Last Days In Bangkok And The Worlds.......
Mood:  lazy
Now Playing: thai cartoon n baby sitter!

Greetings or sawadee krup...again I say after loosing my last post entirely yesterday due to operator and internet cafe timing problems....

Any now to the news....as I am being attacked by yaos nephew...nong nut to use the computer for games...oh and my thoughts go to all the fallen diggers as Australia celebrates ANZAC day today.......

I will have to remember what I typed last time....mmm might try point form.... just been since last entry in bangkok....living at two spots...yaos home and a closer location to bangkok... a freinds vacant apartment...been out during the day....to shopping malls...hospitals...freinds places...entertaining her brothers kids... 4 and 7...going to the movies...saw mr bean and a thai movie called bus lane about a bus being hijacked out of bangkok and watching thai tree loppers at a freinds place in action....the food has been great..if you like rice n noodles...only joking its great n tasty but after a while a nice pie would be a change or a roast...but not complaining and oh the weather...hot  hot and hot..around 37 each day...to 24 at nite.

All forms of  transport have been encounted from taxis(cheap)...air cond and non aircond buses (very cheap)..the back of motorcycles...gee hold on there!...private cars..(very nice) and a three wheeled samlaw the other day!

Well its nearly time for dave n yao to return to Australia, for yao the second time actually, but this time for good...so it will be a big change for us...more so for yao....

So  a 9 hour flight and last minute, shopping and packing awaits us now...and the nephew needs the pc now...so sawadee krup from us in thailand

Thailand Trip...... April 4 - 28
Mood:  happy
Now Playing: ghost whisperer

Well after a nearly 9  hour flight and two inflight movies, I arrived at the new airport for bangkok...Suvarmabhumi...interestingly yao's home is in the flight path of the airport too.

Been some 6 months since I have seen Yao in person and what a welcome sight it was for my travel weary eyes!  So after a pick me up cuppa it was off into the bangkok suburbia via taxi.  Stayed a few days at her home and a freinds and then it was off for a week at Pattaya, some 2 hours south east of Bangkok on the coast.  The weather was ok..some rain and foggy mist for a while ...in the time of year it's supposed to be hot and dry!

The taxi ride down there was interesting...they always seem to be doing something to the roads here and the trip down was no exception...detours and rough sections of the motorway were travelled through.

I protested a few times about the local transport in Pattaya...baht buses they call them...basically a glorified pick up truck with a bench seat....charging us what I thought was a overcharged amount just to go up the hill to our accomodation!...so in protest dave n yao walked up the hill ourselves!

The area is interesting to stay in.   What was heard or seen was.....crackers going off day and night on the hill where the temple was outside the balcony of our hotel ....lots of falungs or foreigners walking around with rented wifes...a innocent street survey turns into a membership in a holiday club with a free lunch thrown in for good measure.......the aircon stopped working on  our last nite at the hotel....a vcd player was brought up to the room free of charge and not even  used due to cable tv being watched instead....these were some of the stories that come to mind on the trip so far.

We are now back in bangkok and two more weeks of holidays await........

Until the next update...feel free to leave your comments...

Happy New Year or Sawadee Pee Mai 2006
Mood:  party time!
Now Playing: thai chat
Well sawadee krup from my last entry.
Got to raid the olde memory banks to remember the last week or so......

Settled in to Bangkok quite well and enjoying the food as well. Dec 26th went to yaos offices and too visit her old workmates there in the suburbs of bangkok...one was a short visit too chemico pty ltd, where I had to sit outside the huge office complex for some reason...then off to her old office of Avon...yes the famous cosmetic company around the world.... there the service was good..even a glass of water or two and some snacks for yours truly. Then off to the Avon factory shop for some 35 percent off shopping.

Next day off with some more of yaos friends to Hua Hin for the night. Via the famous floating market and a elephant village...needless to say a good time was had by all. We also visited a temple or Wat, with a large reclining budda, which was inside the bottom of a mountain, surrounded by monkeys and steep steps to the top. We all stayed at Evason Hua Hin Resort, bar mark and nuit who stayed in town. This was a lovely resort style place right on the beach... but we had dinner in Hua Hin finally when the bus driver found the right road the access the seafood restaurant on the water side.

The next day we enjoyed a lovely breakfast by the sea and a nice swim in the pool. We headed back to bangkok in the mini bus with a fews stops with heavy rain to accompany us on the way.

After staying at Nuits place the next day we headed off very early for a 6.30am flight too Ubon Ratchanthani...some 600 kms north east of Bangkok.
After we left the sirport we headed to the border of Thailand, Laos and cambodia..to visit some olde Cambodian ruins...and in all the heat too mind you and constant coming up of boys selling postcards and Cambodian money to us.
We stayed at nuits family home in Nang Samoa, somes 50kms from ubon and next morning to be woken early by the sound of monks chanting downstairs. Yes mark and nit got married in a traditional Thai country village wedding ceremony. Then off to the town square for a concert of traditional dancing and music by the local school....then a town banquet was had by all....then a long afternoon rest was had by all and yours truly...then late that night...it hit!

Well you could say the mixture of the local food and drink caused yours truly to suffer some stomach problems which caused some problems in the nether regions for some 12 hours or so.... but rest and medication soon fixed the problem and back to bangkok with a new years eve flight via Thai airlines. The new year was seen in at nuits place at Nuan Chan with street parties and massive fireworks seen and heard all over Bangkok.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, WISHING YOU A PROSPEROUS AND SAFE 2006!

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year from Bangkok!
Mood:  party time!
Now Playing: thai music
Well time to update again..its been a while, November has come and gone. What I did apart from work was the End of Year show for the drama and singing school, I do the sound for and all the preparation for that, which takes nearly a month. It went well as usual. Also I continued filming for my mates short film, in which I play a leading role.

December was and still is a busy month. I finished my role as "Red Parish" in a up and coming short film titled "Beyond Shadow Falls", coming to a theatre near you..lol...

Work was also busy with the preprations for the park for the annual Carols By Candlelight. I also managed to to some comedy recordings with some old mates, which should be completed in the new year sometime as a cd release.

And now to Xmas Day in Bangkok,as I write. I left on Dec 23 from Melbourne in the afternoon. I was put on a earlier flight than planned, to give me more time in Sydney and as it turned out, that flight was leaving at the same time as the original flight. This was due to a double tyre change for the plane. Then a mad rush to catch my Bangkok flight via Sydney. No time to duty free shop!

After a uneventful flight, I touched down quite late Friday nite to catch up again with Yao. It was good too see her again!

Yesterday, my first full day in Thailand was also action packed, after a brunch near the hotel, we caught up with an old freind, Jib. Then off to Yao's home near Minburee, to visit her mom and family, which was nice and in a quiet village like estate area. Later that evening we where invited to a christmas "street" party , just out of bangkok , to a freind of Yao's. It was a nice to see Christmas celebrated in a friendly and happy atmosphere. Yours truly celebrated the event in fine style, by a slow backward decline to the earth, ie the chair broke underneath me...literally! Alas I got a great laugh by all at the party! A great nite was had by all concerned, with plenty of thai and xmas songs sung in true thai spirit and drink!
Ok until the next exciting entry, I wish everyone a MERRY XMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FOR 2006!
Sawadee krup!

Spring Is In The Air
Mood:  caffeinated
Now Playing: 60 mins
Well...nearly another month has gone by since my last entry. Yao is still working and living in manila and we keep in regular contact. I plan to visit Bangkok late dec/jan, as ahe will be holidaying then.

The past year, Ive been in a video mood..hence all the projects I have been involved in.... With my mate Col, over the past few months, I've been starring and behind the camera on his lastest epic...due to be finished next year some time...still have one or two filming sessions to go...

And hot of the press, we are now in the process of making a 1 min video for "Funny Home Video" TV show, based loosely on Indiana Jones...today I did a rough edit and Col is coming over this week to put the finishing touches to it...so wish us luck!

I have to finish editing...sorry antony!...your special edition dvd of your wedding and a concert dvd of "The Burning Lovers".

I hope to get back in my music...after such a long time off...I feel inspired again! Oh plus I have been helping my mate with his virgin backyard , with some landscaping and gardening labour and help lately.

November will be a busy month..with my regular sound man booking with a local young peoples end of year talent concert at my olde secondary school. I have to provide and play all the music...and on the night adjust the sound for the audience....

So until my next one..........

Manila, Islands and Homeward Bound!
Mood:  spacey
Now Playing: The Divinyls
Well...since my last blog alot has happened....
I have travelled for the second time with Yao to the philippines island of Boracay. There staying at the Regency, a real nice place. Near to the lovely white beach, eating, resting, boating and snorkelling was enjoyed by both of us...and of course swimming in the resort pools... the weather was wet, sunny and then raining..but it did spoil the trip too much.

Then back to manila via a prop plane..the first for me I think. Had to visit to medical centre after some water in my ear, which delayed my trip back by a few days.

I even become a defacto employee of chemico for a few days...lol...hi to all the staff there...they treated me real well..transporting me to the airport and doctors etc..even to dinner!

My trip back was uneventful via malaysia again and I was glad to be back in Australia again...I had a 4 or 5 days to recover and get ready for work...which I had my first day back today.....mmmm well until my next blog...............

Mood:  happy
Now Playing: dido
Well, mr.dave returns to cyberspace to update his blog, at long last you say!

Now where was I.....mmm. Back to tassie...Had lovely weather for the trip, bar the only sunday I was there...it rained cats and dogs, starting in Ross and slowly stopped as I got near Deloraine again......my last blog update......

Dont want to bore you with all the details..but I will summarise the trip...did over 1,300kms all up, did a round trip, clockwise from Launceston to the east coast, stayed at Scamander and then down to Hobart. Had a day in there looking around the Salamanca market and Wrest Point Casino...

The last day was spent up on the north-west coast...around Stanley, lovely spot with some lovely pics I'm yet to develop yet!...So the trip ended with a smooth crossing of Bass Strait on the Spirit Of Tasmania.

Returned to work the next day and back into it!....
Nothing too exciting has happened up till now....I have a new video editing program to edit my tassie trip with, so I will be trying to concentrate on that..and then to edit my mates video of his wedding in bangkok, thailand....

oh well finger getting a bit sore now..
signing off..........

We had great weather and also a wedding in the park too of a staff member......

We took plenty of walks and pics..i hope to post soon. When a walk says its 2 hours it means 2 hours...but it didnt mention the rough and rocky track we had to traverse!

All in all a great weekend under the stars!

And to now...Im in tassie, travelling around in my car and as I type Im in Deloraine on the way to Launceston. Have been to Devonport and Sheffield and stayed at a mountain retreat near Sheffield...underneath Mt Roland...pics to come
